Saskatoon Housing Initiatives Partnership
A One-Stop-Shop
for
Affordable Housing Project Development
The Saskatoon Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) is an organization that works to enhance the environment for affordable housing in the Saskatoon region, and offers support to all types of affordable housing providers that are planning to build affordable housing units in the Saskatoon Region.
SHIP's services include:
- Assisting Affordable Housing Providers
- Project Development Consulting
- Business Plan and Funding Proposal Writing Services
- Housing Market Research
- Community Engagement
- Encouraging New Affordable Housing Developments
- Addressing public perceptions about affordable housing
The site will be updated regularly as information is collected from a variety of sources so that stakeholders can use the site as a tool when looking to develop affordable housing projects in Saskatoon.

A request for proposals has been issued by the City of Saskatoon
for the development of affordable housing
in the new Evergreen neighbourhood.
Detailed proposals for the construction of entry level and rental housing are being sought for two parcels of land:
Entry-Level and Affordable Ownership Housing RFP Info Package.pdf (326k)
This project involves the construction and sale of entry-level ownership housing on a 2.15 acre site in the Evergreen neighbourhood. Up to 30% of the units are eligible for affordable housing incentives including down payment grants and capital grants.
Rental Housing RFP Info Package.pdf (328k)
This project involves the construction of purpose built rental housing on a 1.14 acre site in the Evergreen neighbourhood. The units must remain on the rental market for at least 15 years. The builder will be eligible for financial incentives including a $5,000 cash grant per unit and a five year incremental property tax abatement.
Proposals must be received no later than Friday March 9, 2012 at 2:00 pm.

National Housing Day - November 22, 2011 - Over one hundred people gathered for an opportunity to learn about the highly successful Women Building Futures (WBF) initiative: an Edmonton based skilled trades center for Canadian women that offers training, employment, mentorship, and an affordable place to live while they study. This organization is increasing the standard of living for graduates and their children by preparing women for careers in construction, oil and gas trades.
It is with the generous support of the City of Saskatoon that Saskatoon Housing Initiatives Partnership is able to help with the provision of permanent, affordable, appropriate, safe and secure housing, which is the necessary foundation for building healthy neighbourhoods in our community.
